As a Technical Author for Ford Training, you will develop automotive technical material to support new vehicle model and curriculum training for a variety of deliverable media.Other responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Develops or updates technical training information based on the end user needs, client specifications/expectations and the current.product information. This could be to support new vehicle model systems or updates to standard curriculum courses.
Researches product information to complete needs assessment for training development.
Consults with various client contacts (external) and subject matter experts (internal and external) to gather product specific information.
High level of proficiency in developing technical training courses in multiple authoring environments based on the level of equity assigned.
Develops technical information using client supplied resources, such subject matter experts, product teardowns and engineering schematics. Work directly with customer on vehicle and to create vehicle bugs.
Ability to create engaging courseware through the use of animations, videos and graphics working with latest technologies.
Communicates with client and internal contributors to ensure the project(s) are within established timing guidelines.
Interacts with department management and support personnel for input, direction and resource acquisition.
Ability to work on diverse tasks and projects with minimal guidance.
Participates in meetings with clients and co-workers.
Advises Project Manager/Team Lead of project status and potential issues.
Completes various additional assignments as directed by Project Manager/Team Lead.
Work directly with customer contacts to guide them through problem resolution
High School Diploma required.Bachelors in engineering degree preferred.
Current or previous ASE certifications desired.
2+ years of experience developing automotive technical training information required.
Experience developing using Microsoft PowerPoint and familiarity with XML required.
Ability to working in open office environment on site with customer required.
Proven history developing technical training material.
Knowledge of automotive systems theory, in any or all of the following areas: Electronic and electrical fundamentals required.
Knowledge of modern automotive systems and mechanical procedures.
Knowledge Automatic transmissions systems.
Modern light truck diesel applications preferred.
Ability to meet deadlines, monitor and assess performance within deadlines and utilize appropriate resources to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
Ability to read, comprehend and follow complicated verbal and written communication (i.e. client communications, engineering draft material, electronic module design specifications and sub-system schematics).
Ability to utilize creative problem resolution skills to handle client related concerns.
Ability to travel domestically 10-20%.
Must be within a commutable distance to Allen Park facility or have the ability to self –relocate.
Must be eligible to work in the US without VISA sponsorship.
Not eligible for VA/VN assignment.
