The Solution Architect is responsible for establishing enterprise data warehouse solutions that deliver diverse reporting and analytic capabilities to health and human services customers in the public and private sector. Works with hardware/software engineers, DBAs, application vendors and managed services to ensure enterprise DW solutions are reliable, scalable, flexible and low maintenance.
Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty or equivalent experience. Demonstrates expertise in data warehouse concepts, practices, and procedures. Has technical hands on experience implementing data warehouse solutions. Has led teams responsible for data architecture, data integration and business intelligence delivery. Has excellent documentation skills and proposal writing experience. Has strong communication skills and the ability to provide consultation to customers and collaborate internally on complex projects as the top level contributor/specialist. Finds creative solutions to complex and diverse business requirements. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.
* Collaborate with client management, project management, sales teams and technical architects to create DW solutions that meet RFP requirements
* Use business requirements to define technical requirements for DW solutions
* Define and diagram the data warehouse architecture and application architecture based on technical requirements
* Work with system engineers to complete the technical architecture for RFP responses
* Design technical solutions that are scalable, aligned with the enterprise architecture and can adapt to changes in business
* Present technical solutions to management, existing and prospective customers
* Produce technical documentation and diagrams for proposals based on industry best practices and standards
* Write technical responses for RFPs
* Assist in the development, documentation and application of best practices and procedures that govern DW implementations and operations
* Review and evaluate technology for consideration in DW solutions, set technology standards
Bachelors’ degree and 5 years experience as lead architect for large scale data warehouse implementations
Proven success as a DW architect, delivering solutions for large (multi-terabyte) projects that integrate many diverse technologies and products
Excellent documentation skills, ability to write persuasively for RFP responses, ability to produce diagrams and schematics that visualize technical solutions
In depth understanding of DW implementation best practices and application development best practices (SDLC methodology)
5 years experience hands on DW technical development; data architecture, data integration, business intelligence and data analysis tools
5 years experience leading DW technical implementation teams; data architecture, data integration, business intelligence and data analysis tools
5 years experience developing technical architecture for DW implementations
In depth understanding of RDBMS applications (Oracle, Exadata preferred)
In depth understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling practices and where they are best utilized
In depth understanding of data integration best practices, leading industry applications and features such as master data management, entity resolution, data quality assessment, metadata management, etc.
In depth understanding of business intelligence applications and how to integrate with other DW solution components
In depth understanding of security models and methods to protect information in the DW solution
Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience
Experience in health and human services is preferred, but not required.
