          Mathematica Policy Research Health Care Research Programmer Analyst in Ann Arbor Michigan United States

          One of the foremost public policy research organizations in the United States, Mathematica Policy Research is leading the way in providing health care research services to federal agencies, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

          We are seeking a research programmer analyst to process and evaluate health care data, including health insurance claims and enrollment files, in support of health care policy research.

          Preferred Qualifications:
          At least a BA/BS (MA/MS preferred) with a strong academic record in the social sciences, statistics or mathematics, computer science, public administration, public policy, actuarial science, or a healthcare-related field like public health

          0-5 years of programming experience and a strong interest in pursuing a career in research programming (experience in SAS, Stata, or SQL is a plus)

          Strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to work with others

          Additional experience that is a plus:
          Experience with IBM mainframe operating systems (z/OS, OS/390, MVS, JCL, TSO/ISPF) and/or Unix

          Experience working with administrative health care data (e.g., commercial claims, hospital claims, and Medicare or Medicaid data), healthcare informatics, or health care claims processing

          Experience designing, constructing, and using large databases for research purposes

          Various federal agencies with whom we contract require that staff successfully undergo a background investigation or security clearance as a condition of working on the project. If you are assigned to such a project, you will be required to obtain the requisite security clearance.
