A Day in the Life of a Nurse Educator:

A Nurse Educator at Meridian supports company initiatives, department training needs and ongoing improvement through employee training and Meridian University course development. This includes the support of corporate expansion requiring training of new and existing employees to support departments and lines of business. This position has a primary focus of nurse education and curriculum development. This position is responsible for providing training for the new hires and current staff after the completion of New Employee Orientation. This includes the development and maintenance of departmental training material, conducting training sessions and assessing staff training needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain training materials specific to designated departments as well as other member facing departments

  • Continually identify and assess training needs for staff and develop mechanisms to address these needs

  • Schedule departmental training for new employees

  • Conduct department specific training sessions to instruct staff on all aspects of the department to meet accreditation standards

  • Work in conjunction with the department training leadership and department leadership on weekly training sessions with all staff

  • Document training sessions and all materials to meet accreditation and corporate standards

  • Provide feedback to the leadership team on status of training and staff comprehension.

  • Make recommendations to implement improved processes

  • Embody the corporate culture in all interactions

  • Work closely with the Curriculum and Reporting team to ensure appropriate documentation and formatting of training materials

  • Promote an image of professionalism and excellence in customer service through personal examples

  • Consistently demonstrate compliance with HIPAA regulations, professional conduct and ethical practice

  • Maintains strict confidentiality of employee and organizational information

  • Develop teaching aids including training manuals, demonstration models, reference material and visual aids

  • Track, record, and maintain attendance records for all training conducted

  • Participate in creating, facilitating, and advising initial and ongoing training initiatives to inform and advise operations staff of practices and procedures

  • Conduct research and analysis, and deliver training programs to anticipate training business needs and trends for new business in the future

  • Provide feedback to management concerning possible problems or areas of improvement

  • Increase efficiency through development of multiple training formats: live, WebEx, computer based modules, etc. per needs of the requestor

  • Assist with formulating training policies and schedules utilizing knowledge of identified training needs, company production processes, business systems, or changes in products, procedures or services

Qualifications:

What you can bring to Meridian:

  • Current license (without restriction) to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in the designated State is preferred

  • Two years’ experience in a managed care organization preferred

  • One year of training, coaching or mentoring preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Utilization Review is preferred

  • Must possess working knowledge of MDHHS regulations

  • Previous knowledge of InterQual criteria preferred

  • Knowledge of utilization management processes

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook) preferred

  • Knowledge of Frame Maker, Captivate and Robohelp preferred

  • Experience in a managed care organization preferred

  • Familiarity with Instructional Design models and e-learning theories preferred
