Senior Telematics Validation Engineer-ENG0014024

Responsible for test specification, test environment design, and execution of tests, and evaluation of designs, analysis, testing and control of major validation projects where creativity and initiative are involved as well as a high level of independent judgment. Exercises technical direction over other engineers or engineering support personnel and may have work direction responsibilities over a group with specific engineering objectives. Generates product validation solutions for both current and future programs.

- Provides technical leadership for OnStar Wireless/Telematics test & measurement development activity
- Performs complex design analysis
- Develops validation designs (including automated test systems)
- Designs and balances system test procedures
- Coordinate staff and execution to meet production intent product timing deadlines
- Communicates, coordinates, and consults with engineering departments and suppliers
- Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products in the field of Communications technology
- Executes both in-vehicle and bench testing
- Directs the actions and activities of a small team of engineers as necessary.
- Travels as required

Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:

- BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience
- A well developed understanding of circuit switched and packet switched connections
- A well developed understanding of the theory and principles of operation of the internet and packet data protocols
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in validation of a production intent product
- Basic Knowledge of code or script development
- High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Exhibits appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
- High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others while coordinating their activities
- Five or more years experience in engineering field
- Experience with one of the following technologies isRequired:LTE, CDMA, GSM, Modem Protocol, Internet Protocol, GPS
- Demonstrated basic programming skills (VB, C/C++, Java)
- Demonstrated ability to root cause software failures

Preferred Skills and Experience:

- Strong understanding of OnStar product features and functionality on both a module and system level
- Experience in validating telematics hardware
- Knowledge of telematics functionality and requirements
- A well-developed understanding of the theory and principles of wireless technologies. Demonstrated technical and professional skills to launch a product employing the use of LTE, GSM, GPRS(Edge), UMTS, or other wireless telephony technologies
