Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the pharmacist.

Responsibilities:

  • Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems.

  • Prepares orders and maintains inventory for the pharmacy department.

  • Repackages bulk medications.

  • Receives and stores incoming supplies.

  • Maintains controlled substance inventory and distributes controlled substances to other departments according to established policy and procedures. Maintains controlled substance records for the pharmacy department. Audits controlled substance transactions and identifies activity requiring further investigation.

  • Monitors expiration dates of medication to assure only in date medication available for patient use. Loads, unloads, adjust quantities of meds in ADM’s as directed by Lead Audit Clerk or Pharmacy manager.

  • Assists with maintaining ADM system user profiles. Trains, supports, and assists users on proper use of ADM system. Maintains the ADM system by cleaning and reconfiguring drawers, trouble shooting, relocating, upgrading, setting up new stations, and contacting vendor support as needed.

Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

  • Licensed Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Michigan Board of Pharmacy .

  • Certified Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • HS or Equivalent

  • High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited program required

Work Experience:

  • 6 months pharmacy technician experience is preferred; requires ability to maintain professional discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
