Job Summary:
• Assists with managing the company's federal tax compliance processes
• Integral member of highly respected, dynamic global tax team
• Reports to the Senior Manager Global Tax Compliance
• Collaborates with the Business Unit and Global Tax personnel as well as cross-functional departments
Essential Responsibilities:
Directly responsible for the following global tax compliance activities:
• Supervise tax return preparation and assist as necessary
• Review single entity tax returns and portions of the consolidated tax return
• Prepare and/or review provision to return reconciliations
• Develop and update standard divisional tax reporting templates
• Evaluate compliance processes and create efficiencies
• Prepare tax returns for e-filing
• Develop annual tax compliance training plan and materials
• Train tax department personnel on compliance procedures, software and documentation standards
• Manage tax software vendor relationship(s)
• Maintain, manage and oversee use of CorpTax (Super User)
• Oversee consolidation of Forms 1099
• Manage reporting and filing of Forms 1042 and 1042-S
Support Senior Manager Global Tax Compliance with the following global tax compliance activities:
• Develop annual compliance plan and monitor progress
• Develop and manage compliance policies and procedures to minimize overall tax risk
• Work with divisional finance personnel to streamline compliance process and enhance standardization
• Calculate/review complex tax adjustments and ensure proper documentation
• Review consolidated tax return and working papers
• Responsible for technical accuracy of US consolidated federal tax return
• Ensure accurate inclusion of international activities on US consolidated tax return
• Work with service providers to coordinate non-US tax return and statutory audit preparation to ensure timely reporting of foreign entities
• Implement enhanced non-US tax compliance process
• Assist with the management of the global effective tax rate
• Research complex tax issues and draft detailed technical memorandums
• Responsible for staff development and promotion
Assist with federal audits, as requested
Support Global Tax team as needed on tax planning projects, including recurring and non-recurring transactions, acquisitions, divestitures, restructuring and other strategic issues
Participate in departmental tax projects as requested
Develop and foster strong working relationships with Business Unit colleagues and cross-functional departments
Basic Requirements:
• Bachelors degree in accounting
• Minimum 5+ years experience in tax compliance
• Must have thorough knowledge of U.S. tax rules, including U.S. reporting of international operations
Qualifications/Requirements:
• CPA, MST and/or JD preferred
• Prefer a combination of public accounting and corporate experience
• Significant hands-on experience with U.S. consolidated federal tax return compliance
• Excellent communication, organization and self-management skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
• Strong research and writing skills
• Self-starter with excellent project management and partnering skill
• Management experience with a track record of motivating and developing staff
• Ability to develop and sustain relationships internally with business units and cross-functionally
Desired Skills/Preferences:
• Large multi-national corporation and/or Big 4 accounting firm experience
• Experience with CorpTax and Hyperion software preferred
• Exposure to international tax issues preferred
• Experience with multi-state tax filings preferred
• Adaptable/flexible: open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances and/or ability to work in ambiguous situations
Percent Travel Required up to 10%
