Job Description Manage or help manage the development, implementation, and administration of various aspects of Stryker’s worldwide risk management and insurance programs. Specific responsibilities likely to include:
* managing or helping to manage the Risk Management & Insurance (RM&I) Department's relationships with various internal customers and external business partners, including insurers, claims administrators, insurance brokers, risk management consultants and other vendors;
* identifying exposures to loss and developing and implementing appropriate risk mitigation and loss control strategies, including managing casualty loss control activities and supporting divisional environmental, health and safety (EH&S) activities;
* identifying, evaluating and implementing best practice” risk management techniques;
* developing and implementing risk financing strategies and alternatives, including annual insurance renewal strategies (especially with respect to the primary casualty and aviation insurance programs) and current and potential captive insurance company uses;
* managing the administration, including annual renewals, of Stryker’s primary casualty and aviation insurance programs, including overseeing the preparation of related renewal applications and specifications;
* supporting the operations of Stryker's captive insurance company, including premium payment, policy issuance, claims reporting, financial statement issuance and internal and external audit activities;
* managing the claims administration services provided by Stryker’s third party claims administrator (TPA) and performing various claims administration duties, especially with respect to primary casualty (including US Workers' Compensation), captive, and aviation claims;
* conducting risk management audits / inspections and ensuring compliance with established risk management policies;
* performing risk management and insurance due diligence and integration activities in support of Stryker's business development activities, as requested;
* overseeing / supporting the management and maintenance of the Department's risk management information system (RMIS);
* overseeing / supporting the management and maintenance of the Department's internal Sharepoint site;
* managing insurance premium accounting and budgeting activities, including overseeing the payment of premium and loss invoices;
* providing day-to-day risk management and insurance counsel and support to Stryker’s operating divisions, including performing contract reviews;
* managing Stryker’s surety bond program, including providing support for divisional import / export and trade compliance activities;
* assisting with the supervision and development of Risk Management & Insurance staff; and
* additional duties as may be assigned.
Role Qualifications
Prefer 8+ years of overall risk management and/or insurance industry experience with direct experience as a Manager or Assistant Manager in a Risk Management & Insurance Department or equivalent managerial experience in an insurance brokerage, consulting or services or insurance company position
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a business discipline required, preferably with a degree or emphasis in Risk Management & Insurance and/or completion of CPCU, ARM, CRM or similar coursework
Experience
Prefer 8+ years of overall risk management and/or insurance industry experience in positions of increasing responsibility in an Risk Management & Insurance Department, insurance brokerage, consulting or services or insurance company environment, preferably with expertise or experience with primary casualty insurance programs, casualty claims handling, casualty loss control, insurance department accounting and RMIS systems
Valued, but not required skills and experience
Expertise or prior experience with enterprise risk management (ERM), business continuity planning, captives, property loss control engineering and/or claims handling a plus
Percent Travel Required 20%
