Department: Emergency Department
Schedule: 7am - 7:30pm, 36 hours a week
Under general supervision but according to specific policies, procedures and established patient care standards, is responsible for facilitating an effectively prioritized patient flow in the Hospital's Emergency Room. Assists arriving ambulance personnel with patient transport and meets other arriving patients. Assesses patient's condition and determines need for registration vs. immediate treatment and prioritizes treatment timing for those who must wait. Explains procedures, facilities, need for waiting period (if prolonged) and answers questions. Assists in basic treatment procedures as assigned. Level of knowledge equivalent to completion of training as a Basic EMT (licensure as such preferred).Six months experience. Significant health care experience in responsibilities applicable to emergency assessment may be acceptable. Experience with hospital, medical/surgical equipment and supplies is desirable.
