          Location Description: Providence Park Hospital, located in Novi, is St. John Health's newest facility and the first new hospital to be built in southeast Michigan in over 20 years. The hospital located in a scenic, "health park" environment, Providence Park Hospital is licensed for 200 beds and is one of only a handful of hospitals in the country to offer patients the convenience of acuity adaptable care.

          Department Description: Inpatient Pharmacy services the complete pharmaceutical needs of newborn, pediatric, and adult patients at Providence Park Hospital. Distributive services include unit dose distribution, chemotherapy, IV admixture, and Pyxis automation. Clinical Services include drug information, renal adjustment service, anticoagulation dosing, Aminoglycoside/Vancomycin dosing, IV to Oral Conversion protocol, and Special Use protocol.

          Job Summary: Under direct supervision, works as a member of an intra-disciplinary team responsible for meeting the pharmaceutical needs of our customers. Technical responsibilities include processing and dispensing physician ordered medications; appropriate storage of drugs; packaging of solid and liquid dosage forms; compounding of topical applications, intravenous or irrigation solutions; maintenance of audit trails regarding controlled substances, and performing patient charging / crediting.
          Minimum Knowledge and Education:
          High school graduate or equivalent

          Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT.)

          Preferred:
          Community college, vocational school or formalized hospital pharmacy technician training (or related work experience)
          Personal computer or mainframe order entry experience
          Associates degree or college course work
          Six months experience in hospital technical manipulation or equivalent field experience in a formal education pursuit preferred.
