          Lead System Engineer Technical (Seals)

          General Purpose of Position:
          - Directs, designs, develops and coordinates, from a technical standpoint, overall engineering and integration of driveline seals for various axle configurations.

          Major Duties and Responsibilities:
          - Primary contact to driveline team for driveline seals. Responsible for managing on-time execution of deliverables.
          - Technical expert for driveline seals for new or existing programs, understands competitive landscape and supports studies/alternatives and recommends program direction based on cost, mass, timing, performance.
          - Provides technical direction to a cross-functional team including; release / development / validation / analysis disciplines to deliver robust driveline systems (focus seals).
          - Prepares component technical specifications & SOR (Statement of Requirements) and allocates requirements to overall driveline system.
          - Leads technical reviews of seals, ensures technical correctness, best practice, BOD/BOP conformance.
          - Ensures component level interface requirements are defined.
          - Negotiates interface requirements with other subsystems to deliverable optimal performance (balanced with imperatives)
          - Participates in resolution of issues involving interfacing SMT's and other subsystems. Plays lead role on resolution of subsystem, system and seal issues.
          - Balances program imperatives (e.g. financial, engineered content, mass, IPTV, etc.) and ensures imperatives are satisfied;
          - Develops and ensures validation requirements for component and subsystem (including vehicle & component) are defined and executed on time.
          - Supports build events as required, including subsystem sign-off, and coordination of launch support;
          - Mentor for component / subsystem DE’s. Supports on technical/commercial/supplier issues.
          - Stays abreast of new technology, understands position relative to competition, and supports lifecycle enhancements.
          - Familiar with component/dyno/vehicle test procedures and analytical tools.
          - Lead component and subsystem level DFMEA/DFSS/VSM activities
          - Responsible for the implementation and development of driveline seal lab.
          - Responsible for leadership of seal task force responsible for the development and implementation of new test procedures.

          Qualifications
          Required Skills and Abilities:

          - Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output; proven leadership skills.
          - Familiarity with seal design/release function, physical test and/or CAE and development (component/system/vehicle)
          - Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design for seals.
          - Interest and ability in subsystem integration ; basic understanding of vehicle dynamics, chassis controls, NVH
          - Familiarity with manufacturing processes and assembly operations associated with seals.
          - Minimum 10 years driveline seal design, development and manufacturing experience.
          - Extremely high level of analytical ability where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult;
          - Highly developed oral and written communication skills;
          - Possesses good appraisal and/or evaluation skills;

          Education and / or Training:

          - College degree with a major in engineering (materials or mechanical), Skill set may require at least a MS in engineering or equivalent experience .
          - Strong understanding of seal design tools and implementation of technologies
          - Training in computer applications for CAD and CAE
          - Completion of recommended corporate training and strong understanding of driveline seals.
          - Demonstrated technical leadership in the field of seal design – patents, publications, awards (SAE), etc.
