RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:

Must have a strong building automation system (BAS) programming background, with formidable skills associated with the Andover Continuum System. The Specialist will perform various skilled tasks in the repair, maintenance, programming and operation of building automation systems throughout an assigned area. Applies specialized knowledge and expertise across many different disciplines and ensures an efficient and safe working environment.

DUTIES:

  1. Performs troubleshooting services, and technical assistance on the Andover Continuum BAS system. Must have a strong comprehension of Andover programming, graphical setup and operation. In addition perform troubleshooting services for other BAS systems such as MBMS, Metasys, Siemens, Staefa etc. in an assigned area.

  2. Evaluates operation of BAS system via IP Network if utilized or modem dial-up and at times direct connection.

  3. Tests and calibrates BAS system controls ensuring equipment is functioning correctly.

  4. Perform program adjustments for the field engineers to insure proper operation of the BAS system.

  5. Interface with Project Management and Planning Design & Construction on BAS modifications to include programming adjustments, calibration, operation and commissioning.

  6. Maintain database repository for all BAS systems.

  7. Support EAMC alarm center in Texas related to environmental alarming infrastructure, both modem and IP based.

  8. Support Andover, MBMS and Metasys front end hardware, software and networking infrastructure.

  9. Performs troubleshooting and technical assistance on modems used to interface with the building automation systems. Support modem baud rates from 300 – 38800, dial string diagnostics, PCMCIA and external.

  10. Performs troubleshooting and technical assistance on IP related issues, placing ticket for IP outages. In addition, ability to change the Andover IP when network router switches are updated.

  11. Load Andover Web Client or Metasys PMI proprietary BAS software on laptops ass necessary to configure the laptop to operate properly.

  12. Research compatibility of software and devices as older devices become obsolete to interface with regional BAS systems. Support field on approved standards relating to DDC systems, e.g., PDA, laptops, software and modems.

  13. Interface with vendors on devices identified in line 12 above to evaluate, cost estimate and select equipment and part purchases.

  14. Complies with all company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards of business ethics and conduct.

  15. Provides leadership to the field on the project.

  16. Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.

  17. Willing to perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATION:

High school graduate or equivalent experience.

Four years apprenticeship program or six years of field experience relating to BAS systems.

Ability to use computers both in Windows based software and DOS environment.

Specialist must be knowledgeable with different IP networks, types of modems and their set-up.

Specialist must be able to be on call and to work any shift, weekends and holidays if necessary.

Must have a valid state driver’s license and appropriate class license.
