Brighton Center for Specialty Care

The Brighton Center for Specialty Care is the newest University of Michigan Ambulatory Care facility dedicated to providing high quality health care services for adults and children. The brand new 2-story facility is located at 7500 Challis in Brighton, MI. We are actively seeking compassionate, enthusiastic, and patient-focused individuals who will share in the goal of crafting the ideal experience for our patients, families and employees.

Responsibilities*

  • Evaluation of children and adults with speech, resonance, voice and swallowing disorders, including specific disorders of voice and laryngeal dysfunction: PVFM, cough and irritable larynx. Instrumental assessment of voice and swallowing disorders with use of videostroboscopy, FEES and videofluoroscopic swallowing assessment.

  • Treatment of children and adults with speech, resonance, voice and swallowing disorders, with specific focus on disorders of voice

  • Documentation of clinical findings, adhering to regulatory agency and insurance requirements

  • Education of patients and families regarding communication and swallowing disorders; develop educational programs for SLPs and staff.

Required Qualifications*

  • M.A. or M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology

  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) is required

  • Eligibility for state of Michigan licensure is necessary

  • Progressively complex experience with the assessment and treatment of speech, resonance, voice, laryngeal and swallowing disorders

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications*

  • Previous experience with videofluoroscopic evaluation of swallowing is necessary; previous experience with FEES and videostroboscopy is desirable

  • Previous experience with assessment/treatment of patients with voice disorders, including paradoxical vocal fold movement is desirable
