Digital User Interface - Quality Engineer
Job Description
Will receive data/information on HMI related issues from:
Benchmarking
Customer Clinics that candidate will run
GQRS (Global Quality Review Suvey) data
Will take all related complaints for the following components
Center Stack
Steering wheel controls
Climate controls
Custer
Will analyze and validate complaints
Will drive competitor vehicles and/or Ford pool vehicles to validate
Will set up and run survey's and clinics to gather focus group data/complaints
Will work with attribute engineers and D&R Community to make changes/improvements for both current and future model vehicles
Will travel less than 5% of the time.
Will represent HMI in design reviews and speak to ongoing programs and future programs
Shift - Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. flexibility

Work Environment
PDC - Engineering Center 5000 engineering center in Dearborn. Three story building with quad short cube set up for engineers, tall cubes for Supervisors and offices for managers and above. Large suite set up that houses groups by component. Many amenities including large cafeteria, barber shop, sub shop, weekly shoe shine, cafe, vending areas and dry cleaning. Many other eating and shopping choices in the Dearborn areas. Building is well heated and air conditioned per season and has windows for natural light.
Core hours are 8-2:30 with flex from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Overtime is very non-typical and there is no bonus potential in this role.
Dress code is business casual - khakis and a collared shirt to start. Can wear a shirt and tie if desired as supervisors and other engineers prefer the professionalism. Can also be as casual as jeans as Ford changed their policy in 2015. Not recommended for the first couple of months though
Ford is investing 1 billion dollars of infrastructure in Dearborn in the next ten years to lure proper talent and to be on par with its competitors.
Qualifications
Must Have
BSME or BSEE
3.0 GPA
2 years of automotive industry experience
Nice to Have
MSME or MSEE

Disqualifier: A highly competent engineer who isn't able to facilitate large groups.
Performance Expectations
:
Best vs. Average - An engineer with has the technical skills AND the facilitation skills. An engineer who has soft skills and can communicate across all levels.
Will be partnered up with a mentor and will be brought along within a team environment. Will also be given daily direction from their supervisor. Day one expectation is that they take an active role in their learning and aren't afraid to ask for more.
Day 1 Expectations - Firs day will be a lot of introductions and work on computer doing training for HR and getting set up in the Ford systems.
Will be measured weekly via close working relationship with their LL6 Supervisor and have more formal feedback as needed. Experience in the group shows that with entry level candidates, a lot of patience in bringing new employees along slowly.
