Kforce Logistics Planning Engineer in Detroit, Michigan

A Kforce client is looking for a Logistics Planning Engineer for a two-year, contract-to-hire position. This position is in Detroit, MI. Specific Tasks Include:

  • Research, develop, plan and implement packaging procedures and methods for material flow within the manufacturing facility, including inbound production components, internally machined components and finished goods for outbound shipment

  • Serve as packaging handling lead for new product launch teams

  • Develop line side material delivery strategy and warehouse layouts

  • Monitor project launch schedule; ensure tasks are completed on time; escalate past due items

  • Create parts sequence method and standardizing across all product variants

  • Develop and modify standard work instructions for current, new, and changing processes (receiving, shipping, ERP systems, etc.)

  • Analyze impacted manpower and quantify manpower savings

  • Create process maps for current and future state to help train employees on process changes

  • Conduct root cause analysis on process defects

  • Validate and update PFEP documents

  • Plans and directs activities regarding the design and development of protective packaging containers

  • Document material flow routes for each product line

  • Participate in scope development analysis

  • Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Supply Chain, or other Business-Related degree)

  • 2 years of experience within Supply Chain (examples: packaging, transportation, logistics planning, or material flow)

  • Project management experience
