The Henry Ford Medical Group has an opportunity for a Medical Staff Services Coordinator to work with the medical staff services/medical affairs for our Physician medical group.Applicants with medical credentialing and medical services experience are being sought for this position.The Henry Ford Medical Group comprises the Henry Ford Hospital in midtown Detroit and the 32 medical centers in Southeast Michigan. It is part of the Henry Ford Health System, which is the third largest healthcare system in Michigan.• Position: Full time 40 hours per week• Shift: Days 8 am to 4:30 pm• Benefits: Full time benefit packageGENERAL DESCRIPTION:• Responsible for coordination and oversight of the hospital Medical Staff Services department including collaborative participation with the Centralized Credentialing Services on the medical staff credentialing and re-credentialing processes. Coordinates and manages medical staff meetings and the flow of the information from the Medical Staff Committees through the Medical Executive Committee to the Board of Trustees.• Responds to verification requests. Acts as a resource to the medical staff regarding bylaws, rules and regulations, policies, regulatory and accreditation requirements and standards. Assists in compliance with the accrediting and regulatory agencies in regards to credentialing while developing and maintaining a working knowledge of the statutes and laws.• Coordinates the continuing medical education program and performs bookkeeping activities for the medical staff. Work closely with and maintain close communications with medical staff leaders, hospital administration and legal on selected medical staff issues.• Maintains the confidentiality of all business/work and medical staff information. Functions as a member of the team to assure optimum performance of the department.SELECTED MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:• Credentialing initial and reappointment applications to meet regulatory and department standards and deadlines.• Ensures that the comprehensive and specialized credentialing and privileging program complies will all accreditation (Joint Commission and AOA) and regulatory organizations.• Processes the credentialing, reappointment, and privileging processes for medical staff, allied health professionals, locum tenens and visiting physicians.• Oversees the daily operations of the Medical Affairs Department.• Develops and implements systems which allow for the flow of information to and from medical staff committees in to the performance improvement structure.• Assists in the development of departmental operating and capital budget.• Develops privilege criteria, privilege delineations, and other documents necessary to ensure that the requirements are consistent within specialties and that they meet the current guidelines as defined by specialty organizations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:• Associates degree required.• Five (5) years in a hospital and/or managed care credentialing setting required.• Medical staff services experience, preferred.• High level of energy to work in a fast paced environment often including time deadlines, frequent interruptions, heavy workload, multiple demands and multi- tasking. Ability to be flexible.• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as necessary. Excellent and effective communication skills both written and verbal.• Word processing, data input, strong computer skill and letter composition skills required.• Ability to efficiently handle designated responsibilities independently in an accurate and timely manner.• Ability to positively interact with physicians, hospital personnel, and guests both in the office and on the phone. Excellent customer service skills required.• Excellent problem solving skills necessary.
