Job Introduction

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, manages suppliers through the new product launch process and evaluates, completes and submits customer required documentation.

Major Responsibilities
  • Serves as MSD’s main contact to suppliers to communicate defects.

  • Investigates supplier issues, writes supplier reports and process chargebacks as needed on a daily basis.

  • Reviews shift and liaisons reports to ensure all suppliers related concerns are appropriately documented on a daily basis.

  • Coordinates all supplier related containments, ensures all suspect stock is identified and quarantined, and communicates cross functionally on an immediate basis.

  • Processes supplier chargebacks through MSD’s internal systems, Materials department and Finance department on a daily basis.

  • Monitors suppliers ongoing performance, publishes supplier scorecards and reports on a monthly basis or as required.

  • Coordinates suppliers SPR meeting as needed to address long term problematic suppliers.

  • Tracks annual supplier PPAP documentation preparation and supports at launch and with engineering changes.

  • Coordinates any supplier related Quality Alerts with the Quality Engineers and Assistant Quality Manager(s) immediately.

  • Displays a positive attitude towards safety, works safely and follows all the Company’s safety policies and procedures.

  • Reports all unsafe and unhealthy conditions or acts to management immediately.

  • Reports injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses and properly damage immediately to your Supervisor.

  • Complies with all Health, safety and Environmental standards in accordance with the Magna Employee Charter, the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Michigan Occupational Health & Safety Act.

Knowledge and Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, quality or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of quality engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.

  • Experience managing suppliers through the New Product Launch Process and in the evaluation, completion and submission of customer required documentation, including but not limited to control plans, FMEA, PPAP, lab packages/submissions, AAR approvals, PSO, 8Ds and run-at-rate.

Skills and Competencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent technical presentation skills

  • Working knowledge of statistics (e.g. Red XX, Taguchi Methods, Disciplined Problem Solving, SPC Gage R & R) and production quality systems

  • Demonstrated ability to track improvement process through performance data

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines

  • Excellent problem resolution skills

  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Work Environment

Work performed in an office and manufacturing plant environment. Normal mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Frequently exposed to varying temperature within plant depending upon external weather condition. Frequently walks, stands, grips/grasps, bends/stoops, crouches, and lifts and carries up to thirty (30) lbs. Occasionally may lift and carry up to fifty (50) lbs.
