Job Description Summary

Visiting Assistant Professor of Japanese with a specialization in Japanese literature, cultural studies, film studies, or equivalent.

The qualifications for such a position include: Ph.D. in Japanese (language & literature) with a specialty in literature, cultural studies, film studies, or equivalent; native or near-native proficiency in both Japanese and English and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching with demonstrated ability to teach Japanese language (beginner through advanced), specialized courses such as translation or business Japanese, a literature capstone course for majors including a research paper, and/or an English-language introduction to Japan. Willingness to perform some departmental, college or university service required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Japanese (lang. & lit.) or equivalent, by August 15, 2018;

  • native or near-native proficiency in both Japanese and English.
