Henry Ford Health System Medical Technologist (General) - Part Time (24hrs/wk) - Midnights/West Bloomfield in West Bloomfield, Michigan

General Summary:

  • Under general supervision, performs routine and complex analytic procedures, on blood and/or other body fluids or specimens, involving manual techniques or the use of laboratory instruments and information systems.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Completion of accredited Bachelor's Degree program, on medical technology, chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science.

  • Requires 6 months of experience in a clinical lab setting outside of clinical research.

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge sufficient to perform lab functions.

  • Accreditation or certification from a recognized national agency, such as ASCP, ACS, HEW, and NAC preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Regularly exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens, organs and tissues.

  • Regular exposure to electrical equipment, chemicals, odors, changing temperatures, and frequent interruptions.

  • May handle absentee replacement on short notice.
